Food Safety & Standards Department
Introduction about the Department:
The Food Safety Department comes under Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) Wing of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is responsible for ensuring food safety and quality standards across the state, Licensing/Registration, creating public awareness, training and implementing regulations set by the FSSAI.

Role:
Responsible for inspecting, searching, seizing any suspected food materials, lifting suspected food samples, and sending for analysis and ensuring the safety and compliance of food products and ensuring that all FSSAI regulations and standards are followed throughout the food supply chain across the district.
As a part of our job role and to maintain compliance, we do risk-based inspections and lift samples as directed by both the central and state food safety authorities.
Besides Inspecting Hotels, Restaurants, Godowns, distributing points, and Retail Shops, actively inspecting schools, hostels, sandies to ensure food safety for all.
